Il Vecchio Comune

Our Guest House is located in the heart of Santa Sofia, at the gates of the Foreste Casentinesi National Park and the ancient beech groves, now a Unesco heritage site. In a central and quiet location, the Vecchio Comune awaits your arrival.

The apartments (one studio and three two-room apartments) are located in a sixteenth-century building which once housed the municipality of Mortano. They are equipped with a kitchenette, Wi-Fi and ancillary services. Three en-suite rooms, two of which have a private garden, complete the facility, all in a cosy and friendly atmosphere. In short, you will feel at home, and we are here for you, our special guest.

In addition to your room, we provide common areas where you can relax, alone or in company!

Nowadays, Mortano is a district of Santa Sofia, but it has a distinct historical identity deriving from its status as an independent municipality in its own right up to 1923. It was then cancelled from the administrative system under the measures established by the Royal Decree of 30 December 1923 (published on 25 January 1924) when Cavalier Benito Mussolini, the newly appointed Prime Minister, abolished several “mini-municipalities” in Romagna and throughout the country.
